CHURCH NEWS: Minister of the Word for Saturday February 11 is Margaret O'Leary and for Sunday February 12 is Kathleen Kelly. Ministers of the Eucharist are Shelia O'Hara and Margaret O'Leary for Saturday. Nora Murphy and Eilish Griffin for Sunday.
CONFIRMATION: Congratulations to all the students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Leahy with Fr. John Donworth and Fr. Tony Kelleher in Kilcornan Church last Friday. The recipients were Sean Mendes, Luke Kelly, Patrick Ivess, Niall Rushe, Jamie Behan, Dylan Moloney, Matthew Byrnes, Kate Quilty, Ally Mulcair, Fionn McCauley, Leah McCarthy, Molly Griffin, Lauren Maune, Katie Kelly, Cian Adams, Ned Lake, Patrick Cahill, Calvin Nash, Dylan O'Rourke Massey, Daniel McDonagh and Jack Cassidy. Special mention to the teachers who prepared the students, the school choir and the people who decorated the church. Well done to all concerned.
Lá Féile Bríd was celebrated last Wednesday February 1. In keeping with local tradition many people paid a visit to the Holy Well in Kilbreedy after 9.30am Mass and throughout the day to honor St. Brigid. Our sincere thanks to the land owners for allowing us to access the Well on various days during the year.

SYMPATHY: Sympathy is extended to Liam Meade, Michael and Helen Meade and families of Kilcornan on the recent death of their nephew Robert Anthony Meade of Clounreask, Askeaton, who died on January 31, 2017 (peacefully) aged 35 years. Deeply regretted by his parents Maureen and Larry, brother Alan, sister Laurie, aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends. Robert was laid to rest in Reilig Mhuire Cemetery, Askeaton after Requiem Mass in St Mary's Church last Friday.
Sympathy is also extended to Marion and Donie O'Shaughnessy and family, Kilcornan, on the recent death of Marion's mother, Mrs. Eileen Sheehan of Church Street, Askeaton. Eileen was laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery after Requiem Mass last Sunday in St. Mary's Church, Askeaton. May they rest in peace.
LIMERICK HISTORICAL SOCIETY: The next Limerick Historical Society lecture will be held on Monday February 13th next. The lecture will be on Archbishop Thomas William Croke of Cashel and Emly. He was the first patron of the GAA and Croke Park is named in his honour. Sr. Bernadette Maria Knopek of the Convent of Mercy, Charleville, County Cork will talk on the Archbishop and the Croke family of County Cork. The lecture will commence at 8 p.m. in Room 203, Mary Immaculate College. Go to main reception and you will receive directions. Admission is free and everybody is welcome.
VALENTINE'S BALL: A Valentine's ball will take place on Saturday, February 11, in Rathkeale House Hotel. All proceeds are going to Milford hospice and The Alzheimers Society Adare Branch. It kicks off at 7pm with a Presseco reception, followed by 5 course meal with complimentary wine. Lots of pop-up entertainment and lots of freebies. Special guest Emmett Daly Voice Of Ireland. MC for the night is Tim Cusack from The Limerick Panto society Limetree Theatre. This is not a Black Tie Event, neat dress essential, but is Ticket Only. Tickets are 50 pp or Table of 10 is 450 euro. SALESIAN SECONDARY COLLEGE: Salesian Secondary College return to the Lime Tree Theatre. After our extraordinary performances last year with ‘Beauty and the Beast’ the students of Salesian Secondary College are looking forward to getting back on the Lime Tree stage. This year we are presenting one of the world’s best known and best loved stage musicals – ‘The Wiz’. ‘The Wiz’ infuses the classic tale of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ with a dazzling mix of rock, gospel, and soul music. This timeless tale of Dorothy’s adventures through the Land of Oz with her friends the Scarecro0077, Lion and Tin Man is a fun, family-friendly, modern musical that you are sure to love. But will Dorothy find her way back to Kansas? ‘The Wiz’ is a musical full of songs, dances and comedy that is sure to showcase the wonderful talent of the students in Salesian Secondary College. Under the Direction of Amanda Kearns and Musical Direction of Noel Lennon, ‘The Wiz’ is set to create a magical theatre experience that is not to be missed. All you have to do is follow the yellow brick road. The Wiz is a story known to all, and it is sure to warm the hearts of young and old alike. Captivating songs such as, ‘No place like home’ combined with stunning choreography and magical costumes that see Dorothy make her journey to the emerald city, promise to make for an extraordinary theatrical experience. I would like to extend an invitation to you and all the children of your school to experience all the magic, brilliance and pure imagination that we have in store. Our production stars students of the school from First, Second, Transition and Fifth Year.
