SALESIANS: Salesian Secondary College are fundraising for a second Information Technology Centre to cater for our 705 students in the school. This year four of our Leaving Cert students Shaun O’Connor (Pallaskenry,) Jamie Fitzgerald (Kildimo), Daniel McSweeney and Dean Garvey (Patrickswell) are finalists in the Certified Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition. This competition is funded and sponsored by the Irish Angus Producers Group and its processing parties ‘ABP Ireland’ and ‘Kepak’. Their success in the competition resulted in them receiving five Irish Angus calves which they have reared in the school for the past 18 months. They donated one of the animals to the school and the proceeds of the sale of €1200 is being raffled on December 22. Tickets priced at €10 each are available from the school office or through any member of the Parents Association and on the school website . Any support from parents of current students, past pupils and friends of the college will be gratefully appreciated.

STRICTLY COME DANCING: Last Saturday evening, in the Southcourt Hotel, we saw the culmination of weeks of hard work by our Community Council members and the troupe of dancers who put in many hours of hard practice to entertain us with Kilcornan's version of Strictly Come Dancing. Well done to Peter Nash and Lorraine Lynch who were declared the overall winners but congratulations must go to all the dancers who provided us all with a wonderful evening's entertainment. Gillian Downes Chairperson of the Community Council in her address on behalf of us all paid tribute to the dancers, the sponsors, the judges; Davy Mann, Big Maggie, Sinead Downes and Kevin Sheehan and to everyone who supported it by being there. Well done to everyone connected with this most successful venture which will be talked about for a long time to come. All the proceeds will be used in upgrading our Community Centre.
