STRICTLY COME DANCING: Kilcornan Strictly Come Dancing was officially Launched last Friday evening in the Coach Inn where a large crowd turned out in support of this undertaking. Gillian Downes Chairperson of the Community Council welcomed all the guests and introduced the sponsors namely Sinead Downes of Sineads Boutique, Annacotty, Tom Mulvihill, Building Contractor, Kilcornan and Dave Downes, Painting and Decorating, kilcornan. She said part of running a night like this would require sponsors and we would really like to express our appreciation to them on their generous donations to set us off on our funding trail. Gillian outlined the reason for a major fund raising event stating that Kilcornan Community Council earlier this year, identified work that needed to be done to the Community Centre in order to bring it to the standard now required. All the groups in the community and users of the Centre were asked for feedback on what they felt needed to be done to support their specific needs. In response to this it was decided to commit to a large fundraising event, hence Kilcornan Strictly Come Dancing Committee was formed. A Committee comprising of members from different clubs and organizations in the community was put together to run the event. Their first task was to find twenty three dancers who were willing to perform on the public stage, and, after much persuasion the future superstars of the dance floor are in place. They are; Joe Rigney, Vanessa Kellett, Aisling Arthur, Lorraine Lynch, Davy Dolan, Darragh Walsh, Anita Maune, Juanita Griffin, Grace Flynn, Ross Mann, Noel Mulcair, Cliona Lane, Niamh Hennessy, Shirley Balfry, Betty Dore, Ger Mann, Paul Fitzgerald, Eilis Griffin, Anne Delaney, Mark O’Connell, Jessica Kelly and Timmy O'Carroll. They are all with their choreographers for the next few weeks working tirelessly on their steps and twirls to put on a performance to remember. Best of luck to them all. The night of the big performance is Saturday November 26 in the South Court Hotel beginning at 8pm. Tickets are now available from any committee member of the Community Council.
