Kilcornan Notes - May 30

LOTTO: The result of the Kilcornan Lotto for Saturday May 28. The Jackpot was not won. Lucky dips drawn were, Tom Griffin, Blaine Collins, Chris Enright and Eileen Tynan. Next week the Jackpot will be €4800.00.

CHURCH NEWS: Minister of the Word for Saturday June 4 is Katie Shiels and for Sunday June 5 is Liam Walshe. Ministers of the Eucharist are Mary O'Neill and Kathleen Hayes for Saturday. Helen Meade and Eilish Griffin for Sunday.

HOLY COMMUNION: We had a beautiful day last Saturday when the children from our National School received their First Holy Communion, Fr. Irwin administered the Sacrament to Jake Kelly, Ben O’Brien, Amy Foley, Meave Griffin, Jennifer Kelly, Sophie Meade, Sean Downes, Michael Finnerty, Cian Dore, Darragh Murphy, Mathew O’Rourke-Massey, Justin Bryce and Joe Adams. Well done ton to the teachers and parents who have prepared them for the Sacrament, and a special thanks to the Parents Council who prepared the Community Centre and provided refreshments to the children and their parents.

EXAMS: Best of luck to all the students in our Community who are starting their summer exams this week.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Congratulations to Chloe Forde who got a silver medal in the U14 A Breaststroke final and also to Jennifer Kelly who came 4th in the U10 B Freestyle final and also to Lucy Forde who competed in the U12 B Freestyle final. Well done to all three girls. The athletics county finals take place in Mungret on weekend of June 10, 11 and 12. All children who qualified at the sports evening are eligible to compete. Community Council: We are currently seeking a position to be filled for TUS worker or CE worker. Applicants are invited and open to local people and living in the area. Please contact your local TUS or CE office for further information.

Tidy Towns Action Group: Planting of the tubs in the area and Grotto were completed this week.

All Ireland: Local lads Cathal Downes and Kevin Walsh from the Limerick Desmond U15 All Ireland winning Soccer team visited their local National School on Monday with their All Ireland and Munster Cups where they got a wonderful welcome from their former teachers and all the pupils of the school.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Limerick Historical Society will resume the Summer outings on Wednesday June 8 next. The historic walk will commence at 7 p.m. We will assemble outside King John's Castle and From there we will proceed to the Villier's Alms Houses, St Munchin's Church and graveyard and then we will visit the Military Graveyard on King's Island. Everybody welcome and no charge applies.

GETTING FIT: Fancy getting fit for the summer ?? Outdoor Saturday Bootcamp continues every Saturday morning in Mungret gaa club at 10am. Class is a mixture of Circuit training/ Boxercise / interval running / Kettlebells / TRX and much more. For more info contact John on 087-9115411

HOST FAMILIES: Host families are required to host foreign students French/Spanish/Italian for 2 to 3 weeks during the summer. Payment for homestay is €255 p/w and for those attending summer school, in Ballyneety, for 6 days a week it is between €200 for one child and €330 per week for 2 children.
