CHURCH NEWS: Minister of the Word For Saturday February 20 is Anne McMahon and for Sunday February 21 is John O'Gorman. Ministers of the Eucharist are Anne McMahon and Kathleen O'Carroll for Saturday. Nora Murphy and Ita O'Shaughnessy for Sunday.
SYNOD 2016: The Final preparations for the Synod in April now involves generating ideas for action which will then be made into formal proposals which in turn, will be voted on at the actual Synod itself. To assist us delegates in creating these proposals for action, we are currently issuing a call for any ideas for action on the following themes for the Diocesan Synod. The Themes are as follows: Community and Sense of Belonging, Faith Formation, Pastoral Care of the Family, New Models of Leadership, Liturgy and Life, Young People.
This is an opportunity to have your say and put forward any ideas you might have around what the diocese should be doing in response to the themes outlined. Any such ideas can be placed in the suggestion box, which is at the back of the church, shared with your local delegates or forwarded to Karen in the Diocesan Office, Social Service Centre, Henry Street, Limerick. Your Local delegates are Margaret Ivess and Ita O'Shaughnessy.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Well done to the U14 Draughts team who qualified for next round. Training continues every Tuesday evening 6.30 to 7.30pm in the Community Centre. Well done to the U10 indoor soccer team who have also qualified for next round. We had 2 teams in the Primary School Quiz, team A have qualified for next round. Well done to team B of Patrick Ivess, Matthew Byrnes and Ally Mulcair.
COMMUNITY ALERT: The Text Alert signs have now been erected and we would like to thank all our Sponsors for their contributions and the people who put up the signs. The Community Alert Annual General Meeting will be held on March 15 at 8pm in the Community Centre. All are welcome. If anyone would like to register they can still do so by contacting any member of the Community Council or Community Alert Group for an application form or by attending the meeting.
KILCORNAN COMMUNITY COUNCIL: The community council would like to thank all groups for their feedback on improvements and works identified for community centre. We have taken it all on board and hopefully we will be able to fulfil the wish lists over time. Kilcornan Community Council will be holding a church gate collection this coming weekend. Your usual generous support would be greatly appreciated.
Reminder for Defibrillator Training: We are arranging for all groups to be re-trained in using the Community Defibrillator at the Community Centre on Sunday March 12. It is essential that Each group in the Community should select one representative from their group to attend the training course. All groups will be notified shortly. The Community Council are currently exploring the idea of setting up a Tidy Towns Committee to improve and maintain the look of the N69 and the area in general. WALK A LEISURELY MILE: If you wish to get some exercise, meet new people and at the same time make a voluntary contribution to Milford Hospice, why not join us for a leisurely walk of a mile or so on the river bank in Adare on Sunday February 21. HISTORY LECTURE: John Redmond - What If? is the intriguing title of the next lecture of the Thomond Historical Society to be given by Dermot Meleady, author of a recent, highly praised, two-volume study of the life and career of this important and controversial figure in Irish History. The lecture will consider his influence on the history of early-twentieth-century Ireland and speculate on what might have happened if the 1916 Rising had not occurred. John B Keane's Sharon's Grave: The Shoestring Theatre company proudly presents Sharon’s Grave by John B. Keane in Feohanagh Castlemahon Hall on Sunday February 21 at 8pm. Admission; Adults €12, Children €5. This outstanding production will be the groups only performance in Limerick prior to embarking on their nationwide tour as they compete in the RTE All-Ireland Drama festival circuit. Last year the group qualified for the All-Ireland finals in Athlone with their production of “Trad”. They won the prestigious Abbey Award and Ger Liston won Best Supporting actor for his role as Fr. Rice. This year Ger is joined on stage by another Limerick woman Catherine Woods as the group once again embark on their quest for All-Ireland glory. The Shoestring Theatre company is under the directorship of Kevin O’Shea and we wish him, his cast and crew every success on the festival circuit.
