Kilcornan Community Council: Kilcornan Community Council held their Annual Senior Citizens Party on of January 17, it was well supported and a great day was had by all, with the celebration starting off with Mass and readings concelebrated by Fr Irwin and Rev. Keith Scott. We had beautiful food prepared by the coach inn, scrumptious desserts prepared by community council members and music by Mike Carraig. There was an array of spot prizes to choose from for the lucky winners in our raffle. Thanks to everyone especially May Quilty who tirelessly sources the spot prizes, to Martina Nash for beautiful flower arrangements, to all the reliable volunteers who gave up their time to make this event such a success. Once again this year the local soccer club very kindly contributed €365 towards the Senior Citizens Party. This money is collected every year at their Annual New Years Charity Soccer Game and the Senior Citizens Party has been the beneficiary of this event for the last two years and we are sincerely grateful.
Our Annual General Meeting was held on January 25 and the Committee is as follows: Gillian Downes (Chairperson), Eileen Byrnes (Secretary), Randal Howlett (Treasurer), Noreen Walsh, Liam Meade, Tom Breen, Betty Dore, Edel Dore, May Quilty, Patricia Manning, Ger Ward, Garrett Kelly. Anybody in the parish interested in being a member of the council is more than welcome. Our meetings are held the first Monday of every month, next meeting Monday March 7.
Kilcornan Community Council’s aim is to work and liaise with local groups, businesess and people in the parish to improve our facilities and the look of our parish. This can only be done by having volunteers who can give the time, input of people in the parish on what they think we need to do in order for this to happen, sourcing funding, holding fundraising events etc. So we hope we can rely on your support and help at times in our task of looking after our parish and the wonderful amenities it has to offer.
