Team Ministry - moving towards pastoral units. A series of meetings involving clergy and pastoral councils in each of the proposed pastoral units are underway across the Diocese. The findings of the consultations with parishes and clergy are being presented. Proposed pastoral units are discussing the road map for the way ahead.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL: Sincere thanks to the McDonnell Family for their generous presentation of the proceeds of the Ger McDonnell cycle, which was held in the Summer. The amount is €9196.92 and will be used in the fund for the renovation of the Community Centre. Chair of the Community Council Gillian Downes accepted the cheque and on our behalf appropriately thanked Gertie McDonnell and her family for their kindness.
We will be holding our Annual Church Gate Collection on the first week end in November, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th. Your usual generosity will be appreciated.
Kilcornan Tidy Towns: Upcoming Events: The Stop Food Waste Challenge will take place on four consecutive Tuesday nights at 8.00pm for one hour each night in Kilcornan Community Centre. The dates are October 30, November 6,13 and 20. The programme is about raising awareness of and learning how to reduce food waste in the home. We are looking for 20 participants for the programme. Let's Clean Up Kilcornan: The Winter Clean Up will take place on Saturday November 10, The Community Centre will be open from 10.30 - 3.30 to drop bags of litter, etc. If possible separate recyclables from non-recyclables. If you wish to drop outside of these hours please contact us.
Cardboard Collection: new this year. Please starting storing any cardboard that you have and drop to us with the litter. Remove staples and tape. Flatpack it. If you can tear it, it is probably suitable. Very glossy cardboard is not.
SALESIAN SECONDARY COLLEGE: A note for your diary. The Salesian Secondary College Pallaskenry will present ''All Shook Up'' on Wednesday and Thursday December 5 and 6 at the Lime Tree Theatre. A musical comedy built around a number of songs made famous by Elvis Presley. It takes place in 1995 in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacket wearing, guitar playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock n roll. Among the songs featured in the score are the classics like Heartbreak Hotel, Love Me Tender, Don't Be Cruel, Can't Help Falling in Love and of course the title tune, All Shook Up.
AFTERNOON TEA AND DANCING: Afternoon Tea and Dancing is Back again this Sunday October 28 from 3pm - 6pm in Community Hall, Kilteely. Music by Teddy and Cathal Barry. Refreshments and Home Baking will be served. All are Welcome to come dancing or just sit back, relax and enjoy the music.
LANGUAGE AND PLAY GROUPS: Suitable for parents/caregivers and children aged birth to 5 years including children attending pre-school. The groups support children to learn through play and rhymes while parents/caregivers enjoy playtime with their child and meet other caregivers. Children will be more ready for preschool and caregivers gain an understanding of developmental play for learning. This is a free service and priority will be given to those in receipt of social welfare payments or living in social housing.
