If you missed the collection you can still contribute by contacting any members of the local branch of the Society. Our thanks, also, to the organisers and players of the 45 drive in Pallaskenry  Community Hall last week.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL:  We will be bag packing in Tesco at the Crescent Shopping Centre, not in Super Value as mentioned last week,   on Saturday December, 16 from 3 - 9pm in aid of our Senior Citizens Party  and we are asking people to give an hour of their time to help out. The Senior Citizens party will be held on  January, 14. Our newsletter is available in the Church and on our web page.

TIDY TOWNS ACTION GROUP: The Garden Bird Survey has moved into the second week. The bird books are out as we try to identify more and more species. So far almost twenty different species have been recorded.
Our Bird of the Week for week commencing December, 11, 2017 is the Blackbird. In the 2015/2016 survey it was recorded in 98.5% of the gardens surveyed. The Blackbird is a member of the Thrush family. The glossy black male is easy to recognise but the brown female is easily confused with other thrushes despite her browner plumage. Most gardens have a pair of thrushes so keep an eye out this week for himself and herself. Let us know if you see them.
Operation Willow: So far we have distributed 45 Willow cuttings. As previously noted they are some of the best for early food for bees. Many more cuttings are available free so contact us if you want some.

KILCORNAN NATIONAL SCHOOL: Kilcornan National Schools Christmas production of 'Oliver Twist' and 'Children of the World' will take place in the Community Centre on Tue Dec 19th at 7pm. Matinee performance will be staged at 10.00am on the same day.
Thanks to all who supported 'Operation Christmas Shoebox' sending 79 shoeboxes around the world.
Pupils are invited to attend the Christmas Panto 'Cinderella' in the UL Concert Hall on Thursday December 21.

HOPE:  There will be a fund  raising event in the Lounge of The Seven Sisters in Kildimo on Saturday December, 30, beginning at 9.30pm.
All musicians, singers are invited  to come and enjoy the music of Mickey Dunne on Uilleann Pipes, and to  join in with some tunes and songs. A raffle will also be held. All proceeds and donations are in aid of the HOPE Foundation to send Slaney Mulcair to Calcutta in April 2018 in a project to help the children there.
