TIDY TOWNS: The Tidy Towns committee are a newly formed group who have been carrying out many improvements to our Community area and entered the tidy towns competition this year for the first time. They have identified various areas where improvement is needed eg the stone walls along the main road, the entrance to Curraghchase  possibility of cleaning up the stream / building a bridge / seating area / visitor information boards etc. The quarry  entrance, rebuilding the wall at the Church and painting the railings. Some work may be needed at St. Brigid's Well in Kilbreedy, however, this could only be done with permission from the landowners who have always been very facilitating to the public for visits on St. Brigid's Day and for the Dawn Mass on Pentecost. These are the different areas being looked at,  however, it is felt that the Tidy Town Report needs to be received and reviewed before any definite plans can be made for next year. As soon as this report is received, a meeting will be scheduled to decide on what course of action will be taken. We all appreciate the wonderful work this group has undertaken in creating a better environment in our Community. Thanks also to the people who in a voluntary basis look after and keep both graveyards in the parish in pristine condition.

HORSE RACING: Congratulations to John Long, Curraghchase, Kilcornan, whose mare Miley's Dream, Ridden by Danny Mullins won the Speedy's Bars Handicap Hurdle over two and a half miles, in Listowel last Saturday. An appropriate celebration was held in the Coach Inn, Kilcornan on the night of the race.
