THANKS: A letter of thanks has been received via Tony and Bernadette Hackett from the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Hermanus, South Africa, thanking the people of Kilcornan Parish for the donation for the Bags of Love campaign. Quote ''we are especially grateful to the Parish of Kilcornan for your unwavering support of our commitment to the annual campaign of Bags of Love.'' Almost a thousand Bags were distributed to needy families in various centres, which would not have been possible without our support.
WALK: Well done to everyone who braved the very bad weather conditions for the third and final leisurely walk in Curraghchase last Sunday. Thanks to Maureen and Ann in the local for providing beautiful refreshments, the cup cakes and the homemade scones were a treat. A special thanks to all who contributed to the bucket collection for Milford Hospice.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL: Kilcornan Community Council hope to complete a number of projects in the Community Centre this year, eg repair to roof, update and improve stage area and general upkeep. In our endeavour to do this we will be holding a number of fundraising events through the year and would be delighted with the support.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Church Gate Collection last weekend. €420 was collected. If you missed the collection and would like to make a contribution please contact any member of the Community Council.
As part of the County Council Spring Clean that runs through the month of April, we are organising a clean up day at the Community Centre, on Saturday April 23 from 10am. This will entail power hosing, cleaning out hall, painting and other work that will be identified on the day so we are appealing to anyone who would be available to volunteer a few hours on the day to give a hand.
We are fortunate to have got a bag packing slot in Tesco in the Crescent Shopping Centre, Saturday of April 16 and are looking for volunteers in the Community to help pack a few bags. If you could spare some time to help on the day, please contact Gillian on 087 77812225
We are also holding a cake sale on Sunday April 24 in the Community Centre from 12 noon, tea/coffee and light refreshments will be available which will be an opportunity for a chat and catch up while your are there. Anyone who would like to contribute a cake etc. please contact us on 087 7781225.
SALESIAN COLLEGE: Paddy O’Neill from Salesian Secondary College would like to thank everyone who supported our school by attending our musical ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in the Limetree Theatre and also our Fashion Show ‘Passion for Fashion’ in the Woodlands Hotel before Easter. Both events were a great success and your support is greatly appreciated.
Our next fundraising evening is our Annual Golf Classic which takes place in the Adare Manor Golf Club on Friday, May 6. Fleadh by the Feale 2016: The launch of the 22nd Fleadh by the Feale took place in Matt McCoy’s last Friday and now begins the countdown to what is an excellent weekend in Abbeyfeale. A robust schedule of events kicking of Thursday April 28 and continuing until Monday May 2 has something for everyone. Headlining the Celebrity Concert is the fabulous Mary Black and her band. She is currently on tour with her ‘Down the Crooked Road Tour’ but is joining us Sunday May 1 at 8pm in Coláiste Ide & Iosef in Abbeyfeale for what will be a great nights entertainment.
